Bratty to Wifey and Launching my eBay Store

February 22, 2008

Having been pampered and living a care-free life, budgeting, paying of bills, cost-cutting and even doing household chores is something I have to live with now. Surprisingly enough, with the help of my husband, the transition was easy for me. Thank God he gave me such an understanding and knows-his-way-around-the-world hubby. ;) As what I have been telling my best friend, I have my very own McGyver in the house. Go figure! :D (He fixes everything around the house, from carpentry, electrical, plumbing and even car troubles… I think the list is endless… ‘) awww… proud wifey!)

I now pass the stage of being drawn to sale in boutiques, splurging in not-so-cheap restaurants, having expensive hair and beauty treatments, going to out-of-the blue outings (out of town or not) or just simply spending money with little or no care at all. As I would joke to friends, I’m over the pa-tweetums role but now taking on a mature role (though luckily, most of my friends are in the same transition too ;D); meaning – monthly budget, house beautification, extra income rackets, etc, etc on top of my regular day job. Basically, not just living for the day, but living for our future as well (Oh, diba? So “tinigulang”! / See? So “oldie”!)

Notice the phrase “extra income rackets”. I have one brewing already. I started days ago but today I am officially launching it. :D (Though a certain friend of mine, beat me to it already last night. Hint: kenblog! Hehehe…) I have been an eBay shopper since November 2005. I took my being eBayer to the next level – I AM NOW A SELLER! :D

I am starting with imported products from my Tita in the US. But I’ll definitely follow it up with 2nd hand products at home that are saleable (bags, shoes, clothes, etc that are just stuck in the closet); to de-clutter the house (my parent’s and ours), to help my Mama and extra income, of course! I don’t know if this will be a hit but it’s worth the shot! Aside from blogging, I have a new habit on the net. Hehehe… I am so totally married! Hehehe…

We do go through stages in life. I am honestly surprised how comfortable I am to be in this stage. Knowing the “me” before, this is a shocker. I am so happy to be in this point in my life. I guess God just has his way with us. Right?

Interested friends from Iligan will have the advantage of purchasing the product at the cost my Tita set. :)

Hair Drama Queen

February 19, 2008

I did it. After days of pondering then deciding; then convincing my husband that I do it –finally I did! And I’m happy with the result. For the first time in the history of my hairstyles (always long, below the shoulder length), I am proudly wearing my hair short.

I woke up lazily today, even dragged myself out of bed. Then it hit me, “today is the big day” – I’m, going to have my hair cut. So I excitedly hurried to school (I have first period every Tuesdays and Fridays), then enthusiastically discussed my lessons. Finally, 9:00 PM came, I said my goodbyes to my students and I was off to the parlor… ;)

I went to my wedding (hair and make-up) stylist. I gave all my confidence to him. As he cut away, I never had a feeling of doubt if I was doing the right thing (hmmm… maybe once or twice. Hehehe…). :D But when he was done and I was examining myself in the mirror, my round face showing, in my new above-the-shoulder-a-little-above-the-chin-slashed hair cut – I thought, “I like my new look.”

Here I go again fussing about my hair. I have been wearing my hair long for the longest time. And cutting it is always a big decision for me. This is the shortest my hair has ever been, thus I can say, I was really brave today. (hahaha….)

My hubby, being a typical Filipino guy prefers my hair long. I hope when he sees me, he won’t regret that he agreed for me to do this. *fingers crossed, mwah-mwah!*

So, as of today, I’m all set for the summer… *Rain-rain go away already… :) *

Acknowledgement:
Thanks to my husband, who finally agreed for me to cut my hair.
Thanks to Eyay, my friend, who inspired me to make a dramatic change to my hairstyle. *You look amazing in your new short hair, by the way.*
And to Ikang, my best friend, who bullied me to do this already.

Bow. Fin. My hair drama ends here. (until my next hair cut)

Love. A Very Simple Message

February 18, 2008

I received this forwarded email from a friend; that I think all of us should read.  Its message is so straightforward and simple, but it’s something we often neglect.  The message is authored by George Carlin.  He is a Grammy-winning American stand-up comedian, actor, and author.  I hope his message will strike you, as much as it struck me.

Subject:     Take a Moment to Enjoy the Simple Things in Life

What a difference a sad event in someone’s life makes.
GEORGE CARLIN (His wife recently died…)

Isn’t it amazing that George Carlin – comedian of the 70’s and 80’s – could write something so very eloquent…and so very appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve done larger things, but not better things.

We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete…

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.

Remember, to say, “I love you” to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If you don’t send this to at least 8 people….Who cares?

George Carlin
